The 10th-seeded Jefferson Cougars took advantage of a hot to roll to 34-14 win over the 7th seed Spring Valley Timberwolves on Saturday at Spring Valley.
The Cougars (9-3) jumped out ahead early when Dylan Harich found Keyshawn Robinson on an 85-yard scoring strike and a 7-0 lead after the first quarter.
Jefferson’s offense continued to roll in the second quarter when Harich scored on a 39-yard run. Harich then found Tay’Shaun Roper on a 36-yard touchdown pass. Harich continued his dominating start by hitting Isaiah Fritts for a 30-yard touchdown pass and a 28-0 lead.
Spring Valley (8-3) finally got on the scoreboard just before the half when Dalton Fouch hit Logan Perry for a 17-yard touchdown pass to make it 28-7 at the intermission.
Cody Shy then pulled the Timberwolves closer on a 2-yard touchdown run to cut Jefferson’s lead to 28-14 after three quarters.
Harich then added the final score midway through the fourth quarter on a 3-yard run. On the night, Harich was 13-of-19 passing for 259 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also 45 yards and 2 touchdowns on 14 attempts.
For Spring Valley, Fouch was 3-of-9 passing for 65 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. He also had 8 carries for 19 yards.
Shy led the Timberwolves on the ground with 9 carries for 39 yards and 1 touchdown. Perry had 4 attempts for 19 yards. Garryk McFeeley added 12 yards on 6 attempts. Jalyn Abercrombie had 2 carries for 4 yards. Cam Bailey recorded 4 yards on 1 carry.
Kyrell Lewis paced Spring Valley with 1 catch for 40 yards. Perry had a 17-yard touchdown reception. Abercrombie registered 1 catch for 8 yards.
