Belfry Middle School won its third-consecutive middle championship on Saturday by defeating the Raceland Rams, 46-6, at Great Crossing High School in Georgetown.
The Pirates scored early and often in the contest. Dante Davis got on the board first with a 6-yard touchdown run. JB Woolum added a 2-point conversion run for an 8-0 lead. Eli Caudill added an 18-yard touchdown scamper. Woolum added another 2-point conversion run for Belfry’s 16th point.
Tristan Chapman scored from 3 yards out to open up the second period scoring. Kolby Robinette then added a conversion run to make it 24 points for the Pirates. Eli Caudill added a 31-yard run later in the quarter. Chapman scored on the conversion run for the 32nd point in the half for Belfry.
Davis scored on a 9-yard run in the third quarter. Robinette’s conversion run gave Belfry 40 points. The Pirates got their final score in the fourth quarter on a 2-yard Kane Caudill run.
Davis led the Pirates with 13 carries for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns. Eli Caudill had 4 carries for 80 yards and 2 touchdowns. Woolum added 54 yards on 4 attempts. Chapman had 3 carries for 21 yards and 1 touchdown. Garrett Maynard added 3 carries for 13 yards. Kane Caudill recorded 2 carries for 6 yards and 1 touchdown. Robinette had 2 carries for 6 yards in the win.
Chapman completed 1-of-4 passes for 9 yards and 1 interception. Woolum had the lone reception for 9 yards.
In addition to this being the third-straight middle school title for Belfry, it is head coach Jonathan Bogar’s second in a row and the Pirates’ seventh overall.
