The Shelby Valley Wildcats will host the Middlesboro Yellowjackets in the second round of the KHSAA 2A playoffs on Friday.
The Wildcats (9-2) come into the contest after a 55-0 win over Morgan County in the opening round.
Shelby Valley pummeled Morgan County’s offense, holding them to -42 yards rushing and only 64 yards overall.
Russ Osborne completed 4-of-7 passes for 100 yards and 3 touchdowns. Brady Johnson completed 5-of-5 passes for 83 yards and 1 touchdown. He also carried the ball 2 times for 38 yards and 1 touchdown.
Middlesboro (7-3) defeated Prestonsburg, 42-30, last week behind the arm and legs of Cayden Grigsby.
Grigsby completed 17-of-21 passes for 284 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also had 11 carries for 58 yards and 1 touchdown. Tyler Sturgill added a receiving touchdown and a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the win.
The two schools have met four times in the playoffs before with each team winning two of those meetings.
The opening kick is set for Friday at Shelby Valley at 7:30 pm
