The Scott Skyhawks finished the regular season and 9-1 record and a 4th-seed for the Class AA playoffs. They will now face the 13th-ranked East Fairmont Bees.
The Skyhawks have had a magical season so far, only losing on the road to top-ranked Winfield. The Skyhawks will look to continue their incredible run behind the arm and legs of Kennedy Award candidate Matt Frye.
Frye continued his monster season in a 69-13 win over Nitro on Friday. Frye completed 20-of-24 passes for 351 yards and 8 touchdowns. He also had 11 carries for 54 more yards and another touchdown.
Frye will be joined in the backfield by Preston Cooper. Frye will also have a quartet of talented receivers in Brayden Clark, Carson Brinegar, Isaiah Bush and Jayden Sharps. All are capable of having huge games.
The Bees (7-3) come into the playoffs with their only losses coming to other teams in the playoffs. It is only East Fairmont’s fourth time ever in the playoffs and its first time in 15 years. The Bees would like nothing better than to spoil Scott’s playoff run before it gets started.
The opening kick is set for Friday at 7:30 pm in West Madison.
