Paintsville Runs Past Bracken County in Opening Round Win

The Paintsville Tigers played host to the Bracken County Polar Bears in the opening round of the Class A playoffs on Friday. The Tigers coming off a tough loss the final week of the season versus Raceland made quick work of the Polar Bears.

Paintsville’s rushing attack was on display as they ran over the Polar Bears for 257 yards. The rushing attack was led by Harris Phelps. Phelps ran for 220 yards on 19 carries and 1 touchdown.

AJ James led the air attack for the Tigers. James was 13-17 for 195 yards and 4 touchdowns. James completed passes to 5 different receivers. Grayson Peters was his favorite target of the night. Peters caught 3 passes for 67 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The win moves the Tigers to 5-5 on the season. Next week, the Tigers will travel to Bishop Barrett (9-2). Bishop Barrett defeated Fairview 36-14 to advance. The game will kick-off at 7:30 PM.
