Top Ranked Scott Faces Giant Test At 5th-Ranked Winfield

The Scott Skyhawks look to defend their ranking as the top team in AA, but to do that they will have to win on the road at the home of the 5th-ranked Winfield Generals.

Scott (8-0) is coming off a 49-28 win over the Poca Dots. With a win this week, Scott would likely be the top seed in the playoffs.

Scott is led by quarterback and Kennedy Award Candidate Matt Frye. This season, Frye is 119-of-200 passing for 2,002 yards, 25 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He also has 40 carries for 423 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Preston Cooper leads the Skyhawks in rushing with 136 carries for 771 yards and 9 touchdowns. Carson Brinegar has added 227 yards and 2 touchdowns on 26 carries.

Scott has a quartet of productive receivers to help out Frye. Brinegar leads the Skyhawks with 30 catches for 493 yards and 6 touchdowns. Isaiah Bush has 18 catches for 487 yards and 7 touchdowns. Jayden Sharps has 34 receptions for 486 yards and 6 touchdowns. Brayden Clark has 24 catches for 471 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Winfield (7-1) is coming into the game after blasting the Nitro Wildcats, 63-10. The Generals have won 7-straight games after falling to the 2nd-ranked team in Class AAA Hurricane.

The Generals could make a run at home field advantage in the playoffs with a win over the visiting Skyhawks. The opening kick is set for 7 pm in Winfied.
