Citizens Bank “Game of the Week” Breakdown

Its a classic 4A matchup as David Jones leads the Bourbon County Colonels (2-7) to Whitesburg to take on the Coach Matthews Letcher County Central Cougars (6-3). The Colonels bring their high powered offense into this game. Quarterback Clay Estes is having a great year completing nearly 55% of his passes for 1,533 yards and 12 touchdowns. Estes has also rushed for 374 yards. On the ground, Josh Moody has carried the ball for 83 attempts for 578 yards.

Estes has a number of bug time receivers to choose from such as Cameron Santiago, Marcus Floyd and Josh Moody. Santiago and Floyd each have 32 catches on the year while Moody chips in with 22.

Defensively for the Colonels, Cam Ron Goodwin leads the team in tackles with 92 tackles. Also playing a major role on the defensive side of the ball is Jayden Moody with 60 tackles.

For the Cougars looking to win on Senior Night, the rely on one of the best dual threat quarterbacks in the Mountains in Jonah Little. Little has thrown for nearly 1,000 yards while rushing for 1,427 yards on the ground. Little is gaining a combined 269.4 yards of total offense alone. Scoring is not an issue as Little has passes for 10 touchdowns and rush for 26 on the season.

Defensively, the Cougars rely on Koby Johnson and Keaton Day. Johnson has 85 tackles on the season while Day has added 72. The secondary for the Cougars will be challenged by Bourbon County and Brett Smith will step up to the challenge. Brett Smith leads the team with 3 interceptions.
