Spring Valley Falls To George Washington

The 4th-ranked Spring Valley Timberwolves fell behind early and could never catch up as they fell to the 12th-ranked George Washington Patriots, 39-27 on Friday at Spring Valley.

The Patriots (6-2) jumped up early by scoring on its first three possessions and then increased its lead to 25-0 on an interception return for a touchdown before Spring Valley (6-2) got going.

Cody Shy got the Timberwolves on the scoreboard with a 4-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Dalton Fouch then raced into the end zone from 8 yards out to cut George Washington’s lead to 25-14 at the half.

The two teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter. After George Washington found the end zone, Shy added his second score of the game from 1 yard out to make it 32-21 Patriot lead.

After another George Washington score, Jalyn Abercrombie hauled in a 17-yard pass from Fouch for the final margin.

George Washington was led by quarterback Abe Fenwick, who completed 22-of-32 passes for 245 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also had 84 yards and 1 touchdown on 14 carries.

Spring Valley quarterback Dalton Fouch completed 14-of-26 passes for 224 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Fouch also had 9 carries for 52 yards and 1 touchdown.

Bruin Booth had 4 carries for 24 yards. Logan Perry had 1 carry for 25 yards. Shy added 5 carries for 15 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Abercrombie finished with 4 catches for 69 yards.

Spring Valley will now travel to Parkersburg (4-4) to take on on the Big Reds. The opening kick is set for 7:30 pm.
