Wayne Hopes To Pick Up Win Over Sissonville

The Wayne Pioneers suffered a crushing loss to Chapmanville last week but hope to gain momentum this weekend when they host the Sissonville Indians.

Wayne (3-5) will come into the game led by Jaxson Damron. So far this season, Damron has 132 carries for 831 yards and 14 touchdowns. Braylon Gilliam and Colton Mathis will also be heavily featured in the Pioneer rushing game. Gilliam has 54 carries for 226 yards and 1 touchdown on the season. Mathis has recorded 34 carries for 210 yards and 1 touchdown.

Starting quarterback Grady Spradlin has been injured the last few weeks. If he can play, that will boost the Pioneer offense. Spradlin is 30-of-41 this season for 304 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. If Spradlin can’t play, Joshua Dingess will handle the duties. Dingess is 19-of-36 with 198 yards, 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

Wayne’s leading receiver is Rylen Murdock. So far, he has caught 22 passes for 262 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Sissonville (1-6) comes into the game hoping to gain a little momentum and finish the season strong.

The opening kick is set for 7 pm on Friday in Wayne.
