The Scott Skyhawks maintained the top spot in this week’s WVSSAC Class AA Football Rankings, released on Tuesday to lead all area teams.
Scott (7-0) is coming off a bye week and now faces the Poca Dots (1-6). The opening kick is set for Friday at 7:30 pm.
Logan (6-2) is ranked 11th this week after beating Liberty-Raleigh, 36-14. The Wildcats have a huge game this week when it travels to county rival Chapmanville.
The Tigers (4-3) got a last-second 26-21 win over Wayne last weekend and finds themselves in 16th. Chapmanville and Logan will kick off at 7pm.
Mingo Central (3-4) is ranked 22nd this week after picking up a 52-28 win over Shady Spring. The Miners will travel to 13th-ranked Herbert Hoover (4-2) on Friday. The kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
The Wayne Pioneers (3-5) are 23rd this week after losing a heart breaker to Chapmanville. The Pioneers look to get back on track by hosting Sissonville (1-6) this Friday. The opening kick is scheduled for 7pm.
The Westside Renegades (2-5) are in the 29th spot after falling at falling at 7th-ranked Nicholas County, 62-13. The Renegades will now travel to Naugatuck to face the 15th-ranked team in Class A – Tug Valley (5-2). The opening kick is set for 7:30 pm at Bob Brewer Stadium in Naugatuck.
The top 16 teams in each class at season’s end qualify for the WVSSAC State Football Championship Tournament.
