Pike County Central Wins a Close One at Home

The Hawks of Pike County Central hosted the Magoffin County Hornets last Friday and held on for a one point win, 13-12.

With no passing yards from the Hawks and only 6 for the Hornets, this game was all rushing. Matt Anderson carried the ball 29 times for PCC. He had 172 yards and a touchdown. Daymon Scammell rushed for 29 yards on 7 carries. Malachi Deramus had 8 yards on 1 carry. Lane Adams had 5 yards on 3 carries. Isaac Blankenship carried the ball twice for 4 yards and a touchdown.

The deciding point in the game came on the leg of kicker Rudy Sanchez, Sanchez went 1 for 2 on his point after attempts and proved to be enough to secure the Hawks victory.

The Hawks defense had a total of 84 team tackles. Isaac Blankenship led with 11. Ethan Adkins had 10 tackles. Davin McKinney had 9 tackles. Patrick Mandrell had 8. Mason hess and Zack Brooks had 7 tackles each. Malachi Deramus had 6 tackles. Lane Adams, Cole Humphries, and Kenson Childers all added 5 tackles each.

Pike County Central (3-5) on the season and 2-1 in district play. The Hawks will travel to Belfry on Friday, Oct. 21. Magoffin County (3-5) on the season will fall to 1-2 in district play. The Hornets will travel to Clay County to take the Tigers on Friday.
