It was all on the ground for Martin County. With no passing yards, the Cardinals had an impressive 354 rushing yards in the 48-0 win on Friday against the Comets.
Junior Brock Messer had 203 rushing yards on 8 carries; 3 of those ending in the end zone for a touchdown. Madden Miller had 5 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown. Jaquan Rufus carried the ball 8 times for 22 yards and a touchdown. Christopher Phillips had 2 carries for 16 yards and added a touchdown. Weston Jude carried the ball 4 times for 31 yards.

Madden Miller and Caleb Costa led the Cardinal Defense with 12 tackles each. Jaquan Rufus and Bryston Wells added 9 tackles a piece. Aiden Horn added 6 tackles. Devon Maynard had 5 tackles. Damian Cheek had 8 tackles and a touchdown on a 43 yard interception. Julian Stafford also had an interception.
The Cardinals (5-3) travel to Prestonsburg to take on the Blackcats next Friday, Oct. 21.
For the West Carter Comets, quarterback Kale Back threw the ball 18 times for 5 completions and 42 yards. Dwaylon Dean had 1 reception for 26 yards. Connor Greene had 12 yards on 1 catch. Timothy Fields had3 catches for 4 yards.
Kale Back had 51 yards on 8 rushes. Dwaylon Dean carried the ball 15 times for 40 yards. Cole Crampton had 5 carries for 35 yards. Nathan Flannery had 5 carries for 26 yards and Connor Greene carries the ball once for 6 yards.
Trace Rivers caught an interception for 16 yards. Ethan Bledsoe had 7 tackles. Kale Back and Raymond Rayburn had 6 tackles each.
The Comets (1-7) are off this Friday, Oct.21 play Russell at home on Oct. 28.
