The 15th Region girls and boys soccer champions were crowned last night. The Prestonsburg girls and the Johnson Central boys clinched a spot in the state tournament starting on Monday, October 18.
In the first game of the night, the Lady Blackcats beat Johnson Central 5-1. Anna Burchett scored a hat trick to help her team secure the win. This is the 4th regional title for Prestonsburg in the last six years.
In the boys game, the Golden Eagles of Johnson Central beat defending champs, Lawrence County, 2-1. It was a back-and-forth battle that came down to penalty kicks.
Both teams will take on the 12th Region Champions in the first round of the state tournament. The location and times are TBA.
