Lewis County’s volleyball game at Raceland ended very different than the first time they met this season. The Lady Rams of Raceland defeated the Lady Lions 3 sets to none in August. Lewis County got their revenge last night and battled to the end, winning the match in five sets.
The Lady Rams came back from losing the first two sets, 16-25 and 20-25. They went on to win the next three, 25-23, 25-20, 15-10.
Senior Sarah Weddington had an impressive night with 29 kills, 27 passes, 6 assists, a block, and a serving ace. Abby Malone had 9 kills, 24 passes, 2 assists, 1 block, and 1 serving ace. Kailyn Hamilton killed the ball 6 times, had 10 passes, 3 assists, and 3 serving aces. Amiee Lewis had 5 kills, 9 passes, and a block. Grayson Lunger had 3 kills, 6 passes, 2 serving aces, and had 21 assists for her team. Olivia Mustard added 17 assists, 2 passes, 1 kill, and a block. Kiya Noble had 19 passes, 1 kill, and an assist. Addison Willis added 4 passes, 2 assists, and 1 kill to the win.
This win moves the Lady Lions to 15-11 on the season. They play away at St. Patrick tonight, Oct. 11.
Even in their loss, the Lady Rams had a team total of 105 passes. Kody Haddix led both teams with 30 passes and 27 assists. She also added 2 kills and a serving ace. Shaelee Holbrook had 9 kills, 3 blocks, 3 assists, 17 passes, and sent over 3 serving aces. Elizabeth Rigsby killed the ball 8 times, had 3 blocks, 2 assists, and 3 serving aces. Reagan Mackie had 24 passes, 3 assists, and a kill. Faith Spurlock had 6 kills, 6 passes, a block, and a serving ace. Skyler Brown-Morris had 7 kills, 2 passes, and a serving ace. Gracie Reed added 6 kills, 3 passes, and 6 serving aces. Shaylen Newman had 15 passes, 2 serving aces, and an assist. Sophie Hale added 8 passes.
The loss makes Raceland’s record 21-10 on the season. They play at Elliot County tonight, Oct. 11.
