Greenup County Wins a Close One at Home

The Russell Red Devils (0-7) and the Greenup County Musketeers (5-2) had a close battle last Friday night. The Musketeers took the game with a one point victory, winning 28-27.

Sophomore quarterback Tyson Sammons threw the ball for 64 yards on 5 completions. One of those passes was in the end zone for a touchdown by wide receiver Jayce Griffith. He had 2 receptions for 26 yards. Hunter Clevenger also had 2 catches for 27 yards.

The Musketeers had a total of 281 rushing yards. Tyson Sammons ran for 176 yards on 17 carries and had a rushing touchdown. Ike Henderson had 105 yards on 18 carries and added 2 touchdowns.

Kicker Carson Wireman went 4-4 PATs.

The Musketeers defense had a team total of 48 tackles. Mason Sammons led with 8 tackles. Carson Wireman, Brock Thomas, and Tyson Sammons had 6 tackles each. Jayce Griffith caught a 14 yard interception for the team.

The Red Devils never backed down. Quarterback Ethan Pack threw for 119 yards on 9 completions. Carson Patrick threw the ball once for 47 yards and a passing touchdown. Patrick also had 87 yards on 6 receptions. DMarques Kershner had 60 yards on 3 catches and a receiving touchdown. Ethan Oborne caught the ball once for 19 yards.

Colby Rock ran 2 touchdowns in on 9 carries and 43 rushing yards. Ethan Pack carried the ball 8 times for 48 yards. Andre Richardson-Crews rushed for 39 yards on 13 carries, one resulting in a touchdown. Ethan Oborne added 6 yards on 4 carries.

Kicker Nahan Totten was 3-3 PATs

Greenup County is back in action on Oct. 14 at East Carter.
