Bluegrass Volleyball Academy And East Kentucky Volleyball Academy Merge

Bluegrass Volleyball Academy welcomed Coach Obed Quiles to their staff. Coach Quiles was the Club Owner and Director of Eastern Kentucky Volleyball Academy until they merged with BVA. He joins the group as the Director of Recruitment and Coaching Education. He will also oversee the new Midwest Division of BVA teams.

Coach Obed Quiles has been the Head Volleyball Coach at UPike since 2015. He brings with him years of experience. Quiles grew up with the sport of volleyball in his hometown of Naranjito, Puerto Rico before deciding to devote his full-time attention to baseball in high school. While playing baseball collegiately at Pikeville, Quiles volunteered time as a student assistant with the volleyball program.

Kayla Moore VanHoose founded Bluegrass Volleyball Academy in 2018. It was a slow start in the beginning, but since then, BVA has added 8 coaches and has players from all across Eastern Kentucky. BVA doesn’t just specialize in the fundamentals of volleyball; they also cater to the advanced student as well. The 2nd Annual BVA Day at Alice Lloyd College is coming up on the 15th of this month. All BVA athletes grades 9-12 will receive a tour of ALC’s campus, meet Coach Nathan Hall, and be in the stands as Alice Lloyd plays IU Southeast at home.

Along with Coach Quiles, the merger of EKVA and BVA will bring several more club coaches to their staff which will lead the new Midwest teams. More information on the Midwest Division will be released Monday, October 10th.
