The Mingo Central Miners got back on the winning side of things by defeating the home standing Tolsia Rebels, 55-20 on Friday in Glenhayes.
The Miners (2-4) jumped on top of the Rebels (0-6) first when Chris Ross connected with Dylan Vance on a 56-yard touchdown pass with 7:55 left in the first period. Kendan Trent’s PAT kick made it 7-0. Ross Then found JR Perry just a few minutes later to make the Mingo Central advantage 13-0 after one period.
Vance got the scoring started in the second quarter when he broke loose for a 53-yard touchdown run. Perry then recorded a sack in the end zone for a safety and 21-0 Miner lead. Vance then scored on a 70-yard touchdown run with 9:06 left in the half. Vance added a 65-yard touchdown run later in the quarter. Ross hit Alex Muncy for a 12-yard touchdown pass to make it 42-0 at the half.
Mingo Central wasted little time scoring in the third period when Jake Cline scored on an 8-yard run. Cline then added a 60-yard touchdown run later in the quarter to make the score 55-0.
Tolsia finally got on the board with 4:42 left in the third quarter when Luke Williamson connected with David Dingess for a 6-yard touchdown pass. Miguel Camara’s PAT kick made the score 55-7.
The Rebels then added two Williamson touchdown runs of 20 and 4 yards, respectively to reach the 55-20 final.
Mingo Central will next play host to Shady Spring (2-5) in its homecoming game. The opening kick is set for 7:30 on Miner Mountain.
Tolsia will now travel to Buffalo next Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
