Spring Valley Falls To Cabell Midland, 21-17

The top-ranked Spring Valley Timberwolves saw their undefeated season come to an end against the home standing 8th-ranked Cabell Midland Knight, 21-17, on Friday in Ona.

The Timberwolves (5-1) drew first blood with 7:03 remaining in the first quarter when Landon Bosser connected on a 36-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead.

A few minutes later, Curtis Jones darted 41 yards down the field and into the end zone for the Knights (5-1) to give Cabell Midland a 7-3 lead with 3:04 left in the opening frame.

Spring Valley regained the lead, 10-7, on an 8-yard Cody Shy touchdown run with 6:31 left in the first half.

The Knights responded a few minutes later on a 3-yard Ryan Wolfe touchdown run to make it 14-10 at the half.

The Timberwolves retook the lead with 1:43 left in the third quarter when Dalton Fouch connected with Kyrell Lewis for a 25-yard touchdown pass.

Cabell Midland took the lead for good when Wolfe broke a 47-yard touchdown run for the Knights with 9:09 remaining.

Cabell Midland had 304 total yards, all on the ground. Spring Valley with 171 total yards.

Fouch had 60 of those yards in the air on 3-of-14 passing. He also led the Timberwolves with 46 rushing yards on 11 carries.

Spring Valley will hope to get on track on Friday when they host the Capital Cougars (1-5). The opening kick is set for 7:30 pm.
