The Mingo Central Lady Miners picked up a big sectional win by defeating home standing Pikeview, 2-0, on Wednesday.
Mingo Central (6-9-2) went ahead in the first half as Pikeview scored an own goal to give the Lady Miners a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Miners added their second goal of the match when Bella Hall found the back of the net.
Goalkeeper Autumn White recorded a remarkable 15 saves in the match.
The Lady Miners’ 6 wins ties the school record for most wins in a season.
Mingo Central head coach Jeremy Davis was happy with his squad’s win.
“Our defense was outstanding,” said Davis. “Midfield and strikers were very strong fighting for possession and keeping us on offensive side of the pitch. Pikeview was a sectional opponent. so it was a huge win for our program and for us on the season.”
