Logan Invades Scott In Titanic Clash

The Scott Skyhawks find themselves ranked in the top spot in this week’s WVSSAC Class AA Football Rankings, but there is no time to celebrate as the 6th-ranked Logan Wildcats come to West Madison in an attempt to end Scott’s time on top.

The Skyhawks (6-0) are coming off a 34-6 win over Mingo Central in a game where quarterback Matt Frye threw 5 touchdown passes.

Frye will lead Scott into battle after completing 94-of-158 passes for 1,569 yards, 21 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. He has also carried the ball 35 times for 412 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Preston Cooper is Scott’s leading rusher with 515 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The Skyhawks have a quartet of receivers putting up huge numbers this season. Jayden Sharps leads the way with 465 yards and 6 touchdowns receiving on 31 catches. Brayden Clark has 380 yards and 5 touchdowns on 19 catches. Isaiah Bush has recorded 367 yards and 6 touchdowns on 15 receptions. Carson Brinegar has 19 catches for 316 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Logan (5-1) is coming of a 17-6 win over Nitro.

The Wildcats are led by quarterback Jaxon Cogar. On the season, Cogar has completed 86 of 138 passes for 1,082 yards, 12 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Cogar is also Logan’s leading rusher with 358 yards and 3 touchdowns on 69 carries.

The leading receiver for the Wildcats is Aiden Slack. So far this season, Slack has 28 receptions for 402 yards and 4 touchdowns. Garrett Williamson has had a great year as well, registering 28 catches for 333 yards and 3 touchdowns. Julius Clancy has 15 catches for 217 yards and 3 touchdowns. Drew Berry has added 10 catches for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns.

There are huge stakes on the line in this one for both teams. A loss could potentially send Logan tumbling out of the Top 10, but a win would definitely move them up the rankings. A Scott win would probably keep them in the top spot, but a loss would drop them down a few places.

The opening kickoff is set for 7:30 pm in West Madison.
