The Scott Skyhawks (6-0) are the new top-ranked team in this week’s WVSSAC Class AA Football Rankings.
The Skyhawks find themselves in the top spot after picking up a road win at Mingo Central (1-4) on Friday. Scott now has a gigantic clash in store as the 6th-ranked Logan Wildcats (5-1) invade West Madison on Friday.
Logan is coming off a 17-6 win over Nitro (2-4) and can gain some huge points in next week’s rankings with an upset of the Skyhawks.
The Chapmanville Tigers (3-3) are 19th this week after falling at home to Herbert Hoover (3-2) by a score of 42-33. Chapmanville now has a week off before heading to Wayne (3-3) to battle the Pioneers.
Wayne is 20th after picking up a 28-6 win over Class AAA Lincoln County on Friday. The Pioneers will travel to Herbert Hoover on Friday for a pivotal game for both teams.
The Westside Renegades (2-4) finds themselves 27th after defeating the Liberty-Raleigh Raiders (1-4) on Friday. The Renegades will have a bye week before travelling to play a strong Nicholas County (4-1) team next weekend.
Mingo Central is now 28th after falling to top-ranked Scott. The Miners will travel to Tolsia (0-5) to battle the Rebels on Friday.
The top 16 teams in each classification at season’s end qualify for the WVSSAC State Football Championship Tournament.
