Class 2A matchup ends with the Wildcats leaving Prestonsburg with a 68-21 Win

In the Citizens Bank Game of the Week, the Wildcats of Shelby Valley traveled to Prestonsburg and had a total of 442 passing yards in a big win over the Blackcats of Prestonsburg on Friday.

Shelby Valley quarterback Russ Osborne had himself an impressive night with 396 passing yards on 23 completions and 2 passing touchdowns. He also rushed for a TD and added 49 yards on the ground. Russ led the team on the defensive side of the ball as well with 7 tackles.

Offensively, it was a team effort for the Wildcats. Brady Johnson added 26 passing yards on 2 completions and threw a touchdown pass. Brady Bentley caught the ball 10 times for 184 yards and had 1 receiving touchdown. John Fields had 85 yards on 5 receptions. Ethan Mullins had 66 yards on 4 catches. Jesse Cook added 31 receiving yards and 1 touchdown on 2 pass receptions. Jayden Newsome caught the ball twice for 30 yards and Jordan Tackett had one catch for a 28 yard touchdown.

On the ground, the Wildcats rushed for a total of 351 yards. Leading the ground game was running back Jayden Newsome, the Mingua Beef Jerky Player of the Game. He carried the ball 12 times for 207 yards and ran in 5 touchdowns. John Fields had 71 yards on 3 carries and ran in a touchdown of his own. Brady Bentley carried the ball once for 24 yards.

Kicker Trey Compton kicked 8 out of 10 PATs for the Wildcats.

On the defensive side of the ball, Shelby Valley had 34 total team tackles. Lincoln Billiter and Jakob Childers each had 5 tackles. Zachary Yates added 4 tackles and a fumble recovery. Blayne Mullins also recovered a fumble.

The Blackcats started out strong scoring the first touchdown of the night. Reece Hamilton threw 7 completions on 10 attempts for a total of 114 passing yards. As a team, Prestonsburg had a total of 114 receiving yards. Ethan Jarvis led the team with 86 yards on 2 receptions and 1 receiving touchdown. Seth Fitch had 16 yards on 2 catches. Dalton Elliot had 1 reception for 9 yards and Brayden Goble caught the ball once for 3 yards.

It was Ethan Jarvis again leading the rushing game for the Blackcats. He ran the ball 11 times for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jon Little added 14 yards on 6 carries. Alex Harris rushed for 12 yards on 2 attempts and Dalton Elliot had 9 yards on 2 carries. Prestonsburg had a team total of 184 rushing yards.

Kicker Max Willoughby was 3 for 3 PATs

Defensively, the Blackcats had more tackles than Shelby Valley with a team total of 54. Logan Goble lead with 9 tackles. Brant George, Bryce Patton, Jon Little, and Alex Harris all had 7 tackles each. Braxton Jude had 6 tackles and Jacob Jarrell added 3 tackles. Brayden Goble and Ethan Jarvis both had fumble recoveries.

Shelby Valley (4-2) takes on the Cardinals of Martin County at home on Oct. 6.

Prestonsburg (6-1) travels to West Carter on Oct. 6.
