The 2nd-ranked Scott Skyhawks look to continue their winning ways by traveling south to take on the home standing Mingo Central Miners on Friday night.
Scott (5-0) is coming off a huge win over Chapmanville and now finds itself in position to solidify a high ranking for the second half of the season. Mingo Central (1-3) is coming off a loss to Poca and is hoping to turn its season around.
The Skyhawks are led by junior quarterback Matt Frye. Frye is having a dynamic season so far, completing 73-of-123 passes for 1,245 yards, 16 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Frye has also carried the ball 29 times for 389 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Preston Cooper is Scott’s leading rusher with 455 yards and 4 touchdowns on 69 attempts. Carson Brinegar has 113 yards and 1 touchdown on 17 carries. He also has 182 yards and 2 touchdowns on 13 receptions.
Isaiah Bush leads the Skyhawk receivers with 359 yards and 5 touchdowns on 14 catches. Jayden Sharps has 23 catches for 354 yards and 5 touchdowns. Brayden Clark has registered 313 yards and 4 touchdowns on 16 receptions.
The Miners are led by quarterback Chris Ross and Running back Dylan Vance.
Last week was a rough one for Ross who completed 2-of-11 passes for 14 yards and 2 interceptions, and he looks to rebound against the tough Skyhawks. Vance had 102 yards on 13 carries against Poca.
The opening kickoff is set for 7:30 pm at Mingo Central.
