Earlier this week, Pikeville running back Blake Birchfield took home the Double Kwik “Player of the Week” honors for Week 6 for his 350 yard 6 TD rushing performance against Lexington Christian Academy. But Birchfield was not the only outstanding performance during week 6.
First, we stop in Louisa as we saw Lawrence County Senior Dylan Ferguson who carried the rock 28 times for 189 yards and 4 TDs. Ferguson lead his team to the big road win as the Bulldogs defeated the D&D Sports #3 ranked East Carter Raiders 42-26.
Next, we saw Prestonsburg’s workhorse Ethan Jarvis put up big numbers as he helped his Blackcats stay undefeated and pick up the big road win at East Ridge 32-26. Jarvis, a Senior, carried the football 33 times for 241 yards and 6 TDs.
Betsy Layne Senior running back, Reece Music continues his terror on opposing defenses this season. Music carried the ball only 6 times but gained an amazing 193 yards and 4 TDs. He averaged an incredible 32.2 yards per carry! Music’s performance helped Besty Layne cruise to a 61-14 win over the Phelps Hornets.
Finally, Belfry’s Caden Woolum helped Belfry swat the Hornets of Magoffin 51-14. Woolum carried the rock 7 times for 123 yards and 2 TDs. Woolum also caught 2 passes for 141 yards and 2 more TDs. On the defensive side of the football, Woolum also had 4 tackles and 1 interceptions.
