The 2nd-ranked Tug Valley Panthers saw their perfect record come to an end with a 20-13 road loss at Hurley, VA.
The Panthers (4-1) took an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter before Hurley (4-1) reeled off 20 unanswered points. Tug Valley did score late for the final margin.
For the Panthers, Elijah Fluty completed 7-of-14 passes for 72 yards and 1 touchdown. He also carried the ball 6 times for 24 yards.
Bryson Elia had 71 yards on 13 carries, 1 catch for 2 yards and an 81-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Adam Slone finished with 66 yards on 11 attempts.
Hubert Marcum had 2 receptions for 41 yards and 1 touchdown. Brady Brewer caught 3 passes for 25 yards. Ashton Davis finished with 1 catch for 4 yards.
Defensively, Slone was everywhere, recording 15 total tackles. Austin Smith had 9 tackles. Elia had 8 tackles. Marcum added 8 tackles, including 2 for a loss.
Tug Valley next plays on Friday in a game against the rival Tolsia Rebels. The Rebels (0-4) are coming off an open week. The kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
