The Pikeville Panthers picked up a huge win over county rival Belfry last week and now look to gain some revenge over the visiting Lexington Christian Eagles on Friday.
The defending 1A state champion Panthers (2-2) used a balance attack to dominate Belfry, 48-13.
Isaac Duty completed 9-of-11 pass attempts for 200 yards and 1 touchdown in the win. Blake Birchfield paced the ground game with 26 carries for 180 yards and 4 touchdowns. Duty’s favorite target last week was Tayvian Boykins with 6 receptions for 85 yards. Brenden Anthony caught 1 pass for a 74-yard touchdown. Wade Hensley finished with 41 yards and 1 touchdown on 2 receptions.
Last season, Pikeville fell at Lexington Christian, 31-14, and look to reverse their fortune at home. The Eagles (2-3) are hoping to get back on the winning track. Lexington Christian has lost its last 2 games, including a 42-6 drubbing at Lexington Catholic last week.
The Eagles will rely on the arm of sophomore Cutter Boley. Through four games, the signal caller has thrown for over 200 yards in each game and over 300 yards in two of them. No stats were reported for last week’s game.
Boley is one of the most sought after sophomore quarterbacks in the country. He currently has scholarship offers from Kentucky, West Virginia, Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Michigan, Kansas, Pittsburgh, Missouri, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State and Eastern Kentucky. Boley is sure to test the Panther secondary.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm in Pikeville.
