Scott Hosts Chapmanville In Battle Of Top 10 Teams

Coming toward the midway points of the season, both the Scott Skyhawks and Chapmanville Tigers have looked like strong challengers for the Class AA playoffs. Tonight, the local rivals meet.

The Skyhawks (4-0) come into the week ranked 5th in the WVSSAC Class AA rankings. Scott is coming off a 21-14 win over Point Pleasant.

Scott’s Matt Frye has been one of the most explosive players in the state this season. Frye has completed 61-of-101 passing attempts for 931 yards and 14 touchdowns with 1 interception. The signal caller has also been Scott’s best rusher, accumulating 350 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns on 25 carries. Preston Cooper has carried the ball 52 times for 330 yards and 1 touchdown.

Jayden Sharps and Brayden Clark have led the Skyhawk receivers. Sharps has 20 catches for 277 yards and 5 touchdowns so far on the season. Clark has 14 receptions for 264 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Chapmanville (3-1) enters the contest tied for 9th in Class AA rankings. The Tigers hammered Nitro, 47-0, last week.

Kohl Farmer has been a workhorse this season for the Tigers. The back has rushed for 496 yards and 12 touchdowns on 87 carries. Brody Dalton has guided the Chapmanville offense by completing 52-of-86 passing attempts for 627 yards, 7 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Dalton also has 35 carries for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Adam Mullins leads the Tiger receivers with 22 catches for 296 yards and 3 touchdowns. Austin Adkins has 18 receptions for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The winner of this game will have an inside track to qualify well for the playoffs at season’s end. The kickoff is set for 7:30 pm tonight and can be seen on the D&D Sports Network.
