Lady Miners Tie Logan, Beat Sherman In Recent Action

The Mingo Central Lady Miners have gone 1-1-1 recently, including a win over Sherman, and a tie with Logan.

The Lady Miners dropped a match to sectional foe Pikeview, 3-0, on Saturday. Autumn White had 7 saves in goal for Mingo Central.

Mingo Central returned to action on Monday at Logan and picked and tied with the Lady Wildcats, 1-1.

Addyson Amick scored in the 20th minute to put Logan up, 1-0. However, the Lady Miners battled back in the second half and scored on an Alyssa Davis header with 35 minutes left. White recorded 8 saves for Mingo Central.

“Due to injuries, we have had to play some players in positions that aren’t their natural spot,” said Mingo Central head coach Jeremy Davis. “Alyssa has been coming into her own as a soccer player lately. She always plays with a high motor, but she is beginning to define her role as the season progresses.”

The Lady Miners then traveled to Seth and rolled past Sherman, 11-0.

Bella Hall, Megan Adkins and Kyra Callaway each had 2 goals for Mingo Central. Davis, White, Dani Browning, Lexie Hager and Madisyn Curry each had 1 goal. It was the first career goals for Curry and White.

Hall, Davis and Adkins all had 2 assists. Hager also added an assist.

White and Arianne Belcher each had 3 saves.

“Very proud of their effort tonight,” added Coach Davis. “The ladies were unselfish and played for each other. We are at our best when we play together as a unit.”

Mingo Central is now 4-5-2 on the season. The Lady Miners next play at home on Monday when they host Pikeville at 6 pm.
