The Scott Skyhawks and Logan Wildcats rose to 5th and 6th, respectively, to lead area teams in the latest WVSSAC Class AA Football Rankings.
The Skyhawks (4-0) move up 7th after gaining a huge win over Point Pleasant on Friday night. Scott will next welcome another highly ranked area team in the Chapmanville Tigers for a showdown in West Madison on Friday.
The Tigers (3-1) moved up to a tie for 9th with Clay County and Nicholas County. Chapmanville defeated Nitro this past weekend and could really get a huge rankings boost with a victory over the Skyhawks.
Logan (4-0) is currently 6th after rolling past the Poca Dots on Friday. The Wildcats will now travel to Winfield (3-1) for a huge game with the 8th-ranked Generals.
Mingo Central (1-2) finds itself in 23rd and looks to get back on track by traveling to Putnam County for a clash with Poca (0-4).
Westside (1-3) is tied with Braxton County for 27th. The Renegades have an opportunity at a major upset when then welcome 4th-ranked Independence (4-0).
Wayne (1-3) is 30th but can move up some spots with a win at 16th-ranked Nitro (2-2) on Friday Night.
The top 16 teams in each class at season’s end qualifies for the WVSSAC Football Championship Tournament.
