The Tug Valley Panthers look to continue their hot start when they host the East Ridge Warriors tonight at Bob Brewer Stadium in Naugatuck.
The Panthers (3-0) are ranked 2nd in the WVSSAC Class A are returning home after picking up a couple of road wins, including a 27-6 win at Symmes Valley, OH last Friday.
Tug Valley is led by quaterback Elijah Fluty. Last week, Fluty was 12-of-23 for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns. The signal caller also had 52 yards rushing with a touchdown on the ground. The Panther defense has also been stingy this season, allowing only 11.7 points per game so far.
East Ridge is 2A in Kentucky and will be considered a Class AA opponent for Tug Valley. A win over the Warriors would give the Panthers some good points to help in their ranking next week.
The Warriors will offer the Panthers quite a test, though. East Ridge comes into the contest at 2-1. The Warriors ran all over Betsy Layne in a 54-35 win in their last outing two weeks ago.
East Ridge had an eye-popping 491 yards on the ground in that contest. Isaiah Adkins put up an incredible 308 yards with 5 touchdowns. Defensively, Steven Layne had 21 tackles in the game, including 3 tackles for a loss.
The Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm at Bob Brewer Stadium.
