The Tug Valley Panthers have had a blazing start to the 2022 football season so far. On Tuesday, the Panthers (3-0) were rewarded by being ranked 2nd in the first WVSSAC Class A football rankings.
Tug Valley was tied with Van and Williamstown for the 2nd spot behind top-ranked Wheeling Central. The Panthers will look to gain more points on Friday when East Ridge crosses the border and visits Naugatuck.
The Man Hillbillies (2-1) also are positioned well in the first rankings by sitting in the 15th position. The Hillbillies have a chance to climb higher in the rankings when they take on Mingo Central this Friday.
The WVSSAC football rankings are released each Tuesday. The top 16 teams in each class at season’s end qualify for the WVSSAC Football Championship Playoffs.
