Hillbillies Race Past Westside, 41-0

The Man Hillbillies jumped on the Westside Renegades and never relented on the way to a 41-0 win in Man on Friday.

Man, now 2-1 on the season, wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Jordan Adams took the opening kickoff and zoomed down the field and into the end zone. Jaxon Tipton kicked the point after to give the Hillbillies a 7-0 lead just 14 seconds into the game. A little over four minutes later, Jim Green scored on a 3-yard carry to increase Man’s lead to 14-0. Jayden Brumfield connected with Jacob Walls on a 23-yard touchdown pass with 4:08 left in the first frame to increased the advantage to 21-0.

The score remained the same until Brumfield hit Lukas Haney on a 22-yard scoring strike with 1:54 remaining in the half. After Tipton’s 4th successful PAT try, the Hillbillies took at 28-0 lead into the locker room at the half.

Kaleb Mullins added to Man’s advantage by scampering 8 yards into the end zone late in the third quarter. Tipton’s kick increased the lead to 35-0. Adams finished the scoring on a 3-yard run.

Brumfield led the Hillbillies’ scoring attack by completing 8-of-12 passes for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had 14 yards on 4 carries.

Adams carried the ball 7 times for 52 yards, including 1 touchdown run. Dusten Baisden rushed for 22 yards on 7 carries. Mullins recorded 14 yards on 3 rushing attempts and 1 touchdown. Green added 6 yards on 2 carries and 1 touchdown. Devon Sanders had 1 carry for 9 yards.

Chris Issacs paced all receivers with 3 receptions for 69 yards. Adams had 24 yards on 2 catches. Baisden finished with 1 catch for 17 yards. Walls and Haney each had touchdowns on their only catches of 23 and 22 yards respectively.

Tipton was 5-of-6 on point after tries.

For the Renegades, Kaden Vance hit on 7-of-9 passing attempts for 36 yards. Vance also added 7 yards on 14 carries.

Parker Lambert had 16 yards on 11 attempts. Hunter Cline added 14 yards on 7 rushing attempts. Cole Cline finished with 7 yards on 1 carry. Braxton Waldron had 3 yards on his only rushing attempt.

Kyler Kenneda led the Westside receivers with 38 yards on 5 receptions. Waldron and Ivan Clay each had 1 catch.

Man next heads to Miner Mountain to take on Mingo Central. Unofficially, the Hillbillies are ranked 15th in Class A. The official WVSSAC ratings will be released later. The opening kick is scheduled for 7:30 pm.

Westside falls to 1-2 and will return to action at home next week. The Renegades will host the Pikeview Panthers. Kickoff is set for 7 pm in Clear Fork.
