As seen on the D&D Sports Network, the Scott Skyhawks continued their impressive start to the 2022 season with a dominating 67-20 win over the visiting Sissonville Indians in West Madison on Friday.
The Skyhawks controlled the contest from the opening kickoff and took a 14-0 lead in first quarter when signal caller Matt Frye connected with Jayden Sharps on an 18-yard touchdown pass. Overall, Sharps had a monster game with 6 receptions for 87 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also had two interceptions on defense, garnering the Mingua Beef Jerky Player of the Game from D&D Sports. Frye connected with Brayden Clark on the next possession before scampering into the end zone himself.
Frye hit Isaiah Bush on a 21-yard touchdown reception to push the lead to 20-0. Preston Cooper then zoomed down the field on a 79-yard run. The Skyhawks held a commanding 48-8 lead at the intermission.
Early in the third quarter, Bush took the handoff and raced 81 yards down the field for the score. From there, the Skyhawks coasted to an easy win over the Indians.
So far this season, Scott has been having its way, but perennial powerhouse Point Pleasant awaits the Skyhawks on Friday. The Black Knights are 2-1 after drubbing Mingo Central, 56-13, on Friday. This contest will give the victor a lot of points in the early WVSSAC ratings and put them in the driver’s seat to gain a postseason berth.
Unofficially, the Skyhawks would likely be ranked 7th while Point Pleasant is 10th. The WVSSAC will release the official ratings later.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm in Point Pleasant.
