On Friday night, Mingo Central played host to Point Pleasant in the Miner’s first home game of the season. After opening the season with a road win over the Westside Renegades, the Miner’s hoped to keep the moment going as the played host to the Black Knights from Point Pleasant.
Point Pleasant made quick work of the Miners jumping out to a 21-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Point Pleasant controlled the game on the ground as they carried the ball 42 times for 316 yards. The ground attack allowed the Black Knight to get the easy victory 56-13. QB Evan Roach was the star of the show for Point Pleasant as he carried the ball 18 times for 127 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Mingo Central’s only score in the 1st half was on a 50 yard punt return for a touchdown by Malaki Shephard. The Miners would add a late touchdown as QB Chris Ross ran in from 7 yards out for the final score. The extra point was good to finish the scoring for the Miners.
The win pushes Point Pleasant’s record to 2-1 on the season. Point Pleasant will play host to the red hot Scott Skyhawks (3-0) on Friday night.
As for Mingo Central, the loss drops them to 1-1 on the season as they look to rebound as they take on the Man Hillbillies at 7:30 Friday night on Miner Mountain.
