Fleming County Defeat Martin County

On Friday night the Fleming County Panthers would host the Martin County Cardinals in thrilling Friday night football action.

The chain gang stayed busy Friday, as offense from both came ready to add a victory to their teams win column. Nate Ruark, from Fleming County, would put the ball in the air for 139 yards. Rurak threw one touchdown and one interception, completing fifty percent of his passes. Landon Johnson caught four of these balls, gaining 112 receiving yards and punching in a touchdown. Austin Trent and Caleb Igo would split carry’s for the Panthers, gaining 152 yards on the ground with each player scoring a touchdown.

Although the running duo from the Panthers was impressive, it did not match what running back, Dawson Mills had to bring to the table Friday night. Mills would receive 25 carries, net 217 rushing yards, and score two touchdowns for his Cardinals team. Mills also received the only completed pass on the night for the Cardinals.

Neither team were afraid to crack their pads, as the hits came hard and heavy. Fleming County’s, Austin Trent, would accumulate fourteen total tackles on the night and three tackles for loss. Aiden Johnson would add twelve tackles and teammate, Landon Johnson, would add ten. Martin County’s, Caleb Costa, accumulated thirteen total tackles for the Cardinals. His teammates, Madden Miller and Brock Messer, would each pitch in with 10 tackles a piece on the night.

Fleming County improves to 2-1 on the year, with their next matchup coming against Rowan County this Friday.

Martin County falls to 1-2 on the year, looking to bounce back against the Knott County Central Patriots this Friday.
