Shelby Valley Shuts Out Floyd Central

In Friday night football action Shelby Valley picks up a big win over the Floyd Central Jaguars.

Early and often, Russ Osborne, and the explosive offense of the Shelby Valley Wildcats would keep the chain gang busy. Moving the ball on the ground would the be story of this game. Junior halfback, Jayden Newsome, would get 12 carry’s for 149 yards rushing. Newsome would score two touchdowns on the ground in the contest. The veteran quarterback, Russ Osborne, would show his versatility as well. Osborne would only throw six passes in the contest, completing two of his throws. One of those throws would be a 66 yard bomb to receiver, John Fields, who scored a touchdown. Osborne aired 84 yards, throwing one touchdown and one interception on the night. Osborne rushed the ball seven times, netting 95 yards on the ground, and scored two touchdowns for his Wildcat offense. He would also make eleven tackles on the defensive side of the ball, and make two interceptions. Talk about a kid who can do it all!

Floyd Central struggled to move the chains on offense. Quarterback, Max Martin, would complete five of eleven passes and throw two interceptions in the contest. Martin tallied 64 passing yards. Tailback, Blake Adams, would receive fourteen carry’s, but only net 45 yards. Five other jaguars received multiple carry’s in the game, but the stifling defense of the Wildcats only allowed 93 rushing yards on the night.

Caleb Lovins was everywhere defensively for the Wildcats, racking up 16 total tackles on the night. His teammate, Zachary Yates, was right beside him making big plays as well. Yates would tally 15 total tackles on the night, adding another element of dominance for the Wildcats.

Shelby Valley will travel to North Laurel this upcoming weekend, looking to improve to a record of 3-1.

The Floyd Central Jaguars will host Leslie Count at home this Friday night. The Jaguars look to pick up their first win of their regular season.
