Adkins and Layne – True Warriors!

Written By: Logan Newsome

In Friday night mountain football action, the East Ridge Warriors would take a trip to Harold to take on the Betsy Layne Bobcats.

East Ridge would show early and often that their ground game is superior. Isiah Adkins would rush the ball 13 times in the outing, netting 308 yards on the ground, and punching in five touchdowns! Dylan Burdine, the veteran quarterback for the warriors, would also show how versatile he can be from the pocket. Burdine carried the ball 9 times, gaining 105 yards on the ground, and punched in one touchdown. Impressive numbers on offense kept the warriors team ahead of Betsy Layne the entire game.

On the defensive side of the ball, Steven Layne from East Ridge would show what it means to lead. Layne compiled 21 total tackles on the night with three tackles for loss in the backfield. Not only did Layne show how dominant he can be defensively, he pitched in on offense as well. Layne had eight carry’s, rushed for forty yards, and punched in two touchdowns on the ground for his warriors team.

East Ridge looks to continue their success next week as they travel to Tug Valley on September 16th.
