Shelby Valley Uses Hot Bats to Pick Up a Win in Salyersville

The Shelby Valley Wildcats used their bats to get a big win over Magoffin County in Salyersville on Wednesday evening. The Wildcats tallied 18 runs on 15 hits and defeated the Hornets 18-3. 2 Wildcats had home runs on the night. Brady Bentley hit a 2-run home run in the top of the first and then the very next batter, Jaxson Damron, also put one over the fence. In the second inning, the bats really heated up for the Wildcats. Hunter Mullins, Sam Brown, and Brady Bentley all reached base just ahead of Jaxson Damron who hit a grand slam for his 2nd home run of the night. In addition, Riley Newsome, Brown, Mullins, Bryce Bentley, & Damron all had extra base hits on the evening. Each Wildcat that had an at bat was able to reach base and score in this big 15th region win. Sam Brown earned the victory for the Wildcats giving up 2 hits and 3 runs and striking out 3. Ethan Gunter worked 1 inning in relief allowing no hits and striking out one. The Wildcats return to action on Friday night at Floyd Central.
