In Carter county this is the game that everyone waits for. Just over 15 miles separates West Carter and East Carter High school but for one year the winner will claim the bragging rights for the entire county. This year the game would be held in Grayson, KY at the home of the East Carter Raiders.
This year the bragging rights will go to the visiting West Carter Comets. The Comets were victorious 22-16. The Comets were led by Junior Cole Crampton who ran for 118 yards on 24 carries and scored two TD’s. Junior Quarterback Eli Estepp went 9-13 throwing the football for 103 yards and 1 TD pass.
The Comets defense came up huge with a trio of players leading the way. Seniors Isaac Bond and Neil Lusher recorded 14 and 11 tackles respectively. Junior Conner Greene added another 12 tackles.
The win brings the Comets record to 2-1 on the season. Next up for the Comets, the Raceland Rams will travel to Olive Hill next Friday. As for the Raiders, the loss drops their record to 2-2 on the season. The Raiders will travel to Fleming County on Friday to take on the Panthers.
