The Perry Central Commodores traveled to Whitesburg Friday night to take on the Letcher Central Cougars in a huge 4A district match up. The Cougars made quick work of the Commodores as they handed Perry Central the loss 42-6.
The Cougars were again led by their dual threat Quarterback Carson Adams. Adams combined for 362 yards of total offense. Adams completed 9-15 passes for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns. Adams also got the job done on the ground as he had 15 rushes for 187 yards and another TD. Wide Receiver Jonah Little carried the football 3 times for 70 yards and scored one touchdown. He also caught 3 passes for 75 yards and 1 TD.
The Letcher Central defense had another outstanding performance. The Cougar defense held the Commodores to 229 total yards of offense. It was Keaton Day who led the Cougar defense with 13 tackles. Day was joined in double figure tackles by Kaden Barnette with 10 tackles with 1 tackle for loss with a sack.
The win pushes the Letcher Central record to 4-1 and has them ranked 4th in the 4A RPI rankings. Next up the Cougars, they will travel to Harlan County to take on the Black Bears (2-3). Kickoff will be at 7:30 PM.
The loss drops Perry Central’s record to 3-2 on the season. Perry Central will travel to Paintsville next week to take on the Tigers.
