Boys Soccer – Blackcats win ALL A Regional title, Boyd Co sweeps two teams from the state of Ohio and Russell takes care of Greenup

In the boy’s All “A” tournament championship game (Pikeville, Ky) The Prestonsburg Blackcats lead  all  the way. The Blackcats jumped up with a 2-0 lead before the half. In the 2nd half it was the Blackcats scoring 2 more goals, to Martin county’s 1. The Blackcats were able to hold and defend off the Martin County Cardinals. The Blackcats were led in scoring by the 3 senior captains, Isaiah Collins with 2 goals, Dylan Moore with 1 goal and 1 assist, Matt Burchett with 1 goal and 1 assist, and Kasey Meade pitching in 1 assist.

Prestonsburg

Isaiah Collins – 2 goals

Dylan Moore – 1 goal, 1 assist

Matt Burchett -1 goal. 1 assist

Kasey Meade – 1 assist

In the 16th region, it was the boys’ soccer team of the Boyd County Lions taking on two teams from the state of Ohio. In the first game of soccer, the Lions took on the Logan Elm Braves (Circleville, OH).  In a close game,  the Lions were able obtain and hold the 1-0 victory over the Braves. Leading the scoring was Garrett Crum with the only goal.

Later in the day, the Boyd County Lions took on another Ohio team. This was a thrilling and nerve-racking game. In the end the Lions were able to obtain and control the game and the victory with a 4-3 win over the St. Joseph Central Flyers (Ironton, OH). The scoring was led by James Terrill with 2 goals, Alec Lawson with 1 goal, Adam Perkin with 1 goal, Garrett Crum with 2 assists, and Grant Chaffins with 1 assist.

Boyd

In other action  on the boys’ side, it was the Russell Red Devils taking on the Greenup County Musketeers. This game was swept away by the Red Devils in swift fashion of 8-1 against the Musketeers. The leading scorers were Jeison Benitez Ramires with 2 goals, Blake Hern with 2 goals and 1 assist, Nathan Totten with 1 goal and 2 assist, Preston Guez with 1 goal and 1 assist, Nathan Sabotchick and Zach Hale with 1 goal apiece, Ben Totten with 1 assist and Jacob Lodwick with 2 assists.

Russell

Jeison Benitez Ramires – 2 goals

Blake Hern – 2 goals, 1 assist

Nathan Totten –  1 goal, 2 assists

Preston Guez – 1 goal, 1 assist

Nathan Sabotchick –  1 goal

Zach Hale  –  1 goal

Ben Totten –  1 assist

Jacob Lodwick – 2 assists
