On Saturday, teams from across the mountains converged in Ashland, KY for the Boyd County High School Cross Country meet. In the Girls varsity division, 59 runners participated and it was Boyd Co. Sr. Sophia Newsome pacing the field with a 19 minute 23 second run. Boyd County placed 4 of the top 5 individual positions to secure 1st place as a team with an average time of 21:13.76. In the Boys varsity competition, another 65 runners participated and it was Boyd County Senior JB Terrill just edging out Pikeville Senior Drew Hurley with a time of 17.00.76 to Hurley’s 17.10.13. In the boys competition, again Boyd County flexed their muscle claiming 6 of the top 7 spots to again clinch 1st place with an average time 17:53.46.
