In the first round of the ALL “A” Volleyball Classic hosted at Pikeville High School, Betsy Layne defeated East Ridge 2-1 (25-17, 16-25, 25-16). Betsy Layne showed a complete team effort. Emily Johnson had 6 kills and 8 digs. Madison Hamilton contributed 8 kills, 13 blocks and 6 digs. Madi Meade chipped in 3 kills, 3 assists and 54 digs in the three set match. Finally, Akira Keathley added 7 kills, 14 blocks and Lindsey Watkins finished with 2 kills, 25 assists, 4 digs and 3 services aces.
Betsy Layne advances to take on Prestonsburg tomorrow night in second round action. East Ridge will travel to Belfry on Thursday to take on the Lady Pirates.
