Alice Lloyd Fall Golf Invitational

On a beautiful day for golf, Alice Lloyd College hosted their Fall Invitational golf tournament at Stonecrest Golf Course.  The tournament plays host to some of the best male and female college golfers in our area.  

In the female division, four teams participated:  Pikeville, Oakl. City, University of Rio Grande and Roane State Community College.  The first round of the tournament belonged to the ladies from UPIKE.  UPIKE placed three of the top four golfers on the opening day.  Boo Newsome led the field with a score of 2 over par  74.  She was followed closely by her teammate Sophie Beverly’s 4 over par performance.  As a team UPIKE shot a 29 over par or a combined 4 golfer total of 317.

Seven team are participating in the male division in an effort to claim the title.  UPIKE, Bryan, Roane State Community College, Kentucky State, Alice Lloyd, OH Christ and Rio Grande.  A competitive first round shows all seven teams within 26 strokes.  The leading team after day one is UPIKE with a 9 over 297.  Second place goes to Bryan trailing the leader by only 1 stroke. Alice Lloyd current sits in 5th place with a combined team score of 317.

In the individual competition, it is UPIKE’s CJ Corum leading with a score of 3 under par 69.  A tie for second place has Aydin Norman from Bryan and Micah Strangebye from Kentucky State shows them shooting a 2 under par of 70.  In fourth place, Alice Lloyd golfer Mason Compton shot a 1 under par 71.
